SSMJ Workforce Advancement Program (SWAP)
Powered by SSMJ Holdings, LLC
π· Program Overview
The SSMJ Workforce Advancement Program (SWAP) is a strategic workforce development initiative created by SSMJ Holdings, LLC. SWAP connects local businesses in need of skilled labor with government-funded training resources to upskill and prepare unemployed or underemployed individuals for long-term employment.
Through partnerships with city, state, and federal workforce agencies, the program facilitates tuition-free training for eligible candidatesβwhile businesses pay nothing out of pocket to develop a qualified workforce tailored to their needs.
π· Program Goals
- Bridge the gap between unskilled labor and employment-ready talent.
- Provide tuition-free training for participants funded by government partners (e.g., WIOA, state workforce boards, workforce development grants).
- Supply small and medium-sized businesses with job-ready candidates without placing the financial burden of training on employers.
- Improve employment outcomes in underserved ZIP codes (68110, 68111, 68112, 68104).
π· How It Works
1. Business Enrollment
Businesses express interest in hiring trained workers but are unable to pay for training costs. SSMJ Holdings assesses their labor needs and job requirements.
2. Government Funding Match
SSMJ secures workforce development funding through:
- Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)
- American Job Centers
- Department of Labor programs
- State Workforce Development Boards
- Local CDBG or Economic Development funds
3. Candidate Recruitment
SSMJ identifies and recruits participants from targeted communities and refers them to:
- Approved community training partners, or
- In-house or online training programs delivered directly by SSMJ Holdings, LLC
4. Customized Training
Participants receive training aligned with the hiring employer's needs. Areas of training include:
- Construction & Trades
- Administrative Support
- Customer Service & Retail
- Logistics & Warehouse
- Culinary & Hospitality
- Healthcare Support
- Workforce Readiness & Soft Skills (available via SSMJ's online platform)
5. Job Placement
Upon completion, trainees are placed directly into job roles with participating businesses. Post-placement follow-up ensures retention and satisfaction on both ends.
π· Ideal Business Partners
- Small to mid-sized businesses
